Official Statement on US Import Charges
From Sam Fitton, Director of SOLO (solosfx.com)
To our valued US customers,
Recent changes in US trade policy have significantly impacted how SOLO® products are delivered to you.
The US government has now removed the de minimis exemption on all goods, which previously allowed goods valued under $800 to enter the country without duties. This, combined with newly imposed tariffs, means that many of our customers are now facing unexpected import charges.
To make things more challenging, this legislation was implemented with little warning or guidance for businesses. As a result, like many small international companies, we are having to adapt quickly and do everything we can to support our customers.
Our product is classified as an electronic remote device (HS code 8526925000) and falls within the scope of these new tariffs. Ultimately, any duties or import fees are determined by US customs and are completely outside of our control. These charges are payable by the customer.
We know how frustrating this is, especially for the creators, performers, and technicians who rely on SOLO® hardware. Please rest assured: we’re actively working on solutions — including better shipping options, localised US distribution, and clearer pre-purchase guidance to help you avoid surprises but this will take time and significant investment.
We’re incredibly grateful for your support, patience, and understanding. If you have any questions at all, please reach out at support@solosfx.com— we’re here to help.
Thank you,
Sam Fitton
